Sharon Building Legacy
3 Wharf Road is among a long list of Sharon Buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area linked to the legacy of William Sharon, Nevada Senator from 1875 to 1881, who is known to have spent most of his time in California.
1940s - Senator Sharon’s nephew Hurford Clarence Sharon of Piedmont took interest in Bolinas. Hurford and his wife Evelyn bought the historic building, drawn by its unique story and charm. They set up a real estate shop and eventually remodeled the building into a duplex.
1976 - Young carpenter Peter Harris, mentored by the Sharons, bought the business and the property, carrying on the tradition of preserving the building while growing the business.
